How will BigBear WHI ensure the renters are of solid nature. Employees working for contributing members will be first in line. Credit checks will be in place. Employees that have a referral from their existing Employer will be matched first. Property Management after the renter is placed will be soley up to the home owner. BigBearWHI will have a list of property managers that are in good standing in the community.
BigBearWHI.com is looking to tap into those Vacation Rentals that are on the fence as to whether or not to continue to rent their homes out short term. This will reduce the number of short term and help provide more housing.
We are also looking at tapping into the nearly 5000 homes in Big Bear Lake alone that are not being used as vacation rental nor full time rental / owner.
If you already provide full time rentals, we are sorry at this time you do not qualify for this program. BigBearWHI.com will request utility bills going back up to 3 years to show that the home owner has been paying the bills not a renter. The goal is motivate unused inventory or vacation rentals to move to Full Time Housing.
Our program will cross county lines. Dollars collected in Big Bear Lake will be used in Big Bear Lake and County dollars for county homes.

We are busy forming our staff and steering committee. If you are interested in being on our staff as a paid employee or volunteer let us know. Board of Directors will help develop guidelines to govern the non-profit organization. They will be in charge of hiring staff to accomplish the goals thereby set. We are looking to form a steering committee of 5 to 7 members split between locals and contributing members. Contributing members will rotate their seat at set intervals defined by the Board.
If capital has been collected and cannot be used in the calendar year it was collected it will accumulate. If for some reason Big Bear Workforce Housing Initiative is dismantled. Existing capital will be ear marked to bring all leases to completion and remaining funds will be donated to another charity in Big Bear Lake.
Home owners must use the CAR contract to define the lease period. We are looking for agents and brokers to donate their fees back into the non - profit organization.
